Importance of Education

NTBOA prides itself on providing educational opportunities to its officials. As the Chair of the Education Committee, I value each and every one of your suggestions to improve our growing chapter in the education of our officials. I believe, as does our board of directors, that no one in NTBOA is above education. With that said, there are different degrees and levels of the education process.

Finally, if you are interested in helping improve the education of our members, please email Darnell McCoy at We welcome your feedback.

Crew Chief Training Program

This program is designed to strengthen the performance of our crews throughout the season.  The program is one of a kind; we have not heard of a comparable program geared specifically to crew chiefs offered by any other officials’ chapter in Texas or beyond. For more information about the Crew Chief Training Program, please call Marvin Royal at (940) 736-6839 or George Yarbrough at (214) 704-8946.

NTBOA is proud to partner with Texas Basketball Championship to host this year’s camp, June 14-16. Games will be played at Grapevine & Coppell High Schools. This camp will be an excellent opportunity for those wanting to improve their 3-person mechanics. You will receive insight and instruction from our clinicians which are some of the best college and high school officials in the DFW area. This year we are happy to introduce an Observation Camper which will new and current officials with no 3-person experience the opportunity participate in education, receive personal instruction, hear clinician evaluations, etc.  The cost for a full camper is $99 and that includes education sessions as well as evaluations of your performance on the floor. The cost for an observation camper is $35.  For more information about the camp, please call Jim Johnson at (469) 667-8415.
